Journeyperson Scaffolder
Okanagan, BC|Union position (UBCJA)
What you'll do
- Erect, modify and dismantle ringlock, tube-and-clamp and other scaffold systems, including stair towers, bridges, enclosures and overhead protection
- Read drawings and the plan for each job, and help lead apprentices and labourers on site
- Complete daily logs, hazard assessments and site paperwork on a phone
- Meet each client's site rules, from residential and commercial sites to industrial sites
What you need
- Journeyperson scaffolder with SAIA or union training and certification
- Valid driver's licence and your own reliable transportation
- A working smartphone that can download apps
- Able to lift and carry 50 lb (23 kg) or more, repeatedly, throughout the shift
- Willing to travel and work away on rotation
- Able to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing, sometimes on short notice
- A good attitude about learning new technology. We use apps for daily logs, safety forms and job plans, and we'll show you how.
- Current fall protection is an asset
What we offer
- $38.22/hr Journeyperson, Commercial, Inside Okanagan rate. Higher rates apply for industrial work and for work outside the Okanagan.
- 30 to 40 hours a week minimum, plus overtime
- Union benefits, plus travel pay and living-out allowance on away jobs
- Steady work across local and out-of-town projects
This is a union position. The successful candidate will need to join the UBCJA if they aren't already a member.
